What’s the difference between nerd and dork?

    • jjmaloy /spanish /Spain, 28/09/2009

You are a nerd, Juan is a dork. That’s the difference.

Hahaha and for those who don’t know Juan nor the other guy…

I would say it’s pretty subtle but nerd is usually used to be spiteful with someone who is pretty good at something e.g. computers, electronics, mathematics, those kind of things… while dork doesn’t imply having skills for something in particular but just being weird, having a funny face or such…

    • nuakosta /spanish /Spain, 29/09/2009

A dork is a nerd without social skills.

Nerd, he/she can be also intelligent, i.e. Steve Urkel,
Dork is a quirky, silly and/or stupid, socially inept person, or one who is out of touch with contemporary trends. And example? Hmmm, maybe Corey Feldman? Uwe Boll?
